because of the resemblance of its part (plate) to a mouse

pottery and 950 degrees in the oven

Medium five-slot tallow lamp
The tallow burner, also known as the mouse
lamp, was a type of lamp utilized for nocturnal
illumination, powered by tallow, olive oil, and
mandab oil (mando). This lamp featured a long
cotton wick and earned its name from the
resemblance of the oils and the wick
component (plate) to a mouse. The lamp fell
out of favor in the early 20th century due to
excessive smoke production and was later
reimagined by the Dastan Art Group using 850-
degree kiln pottery and 950-degree firing with
a turquoise glaze.
